Gertrude, aged 12 years
Gertrude is the twin sister of Agnes, who is also sponsored by Girl Child. She is a double orphan whose parents both died when she was very young - she can hardly remember them. Her grandmother took her to the orphanage because she couldn't support either of them. Gertrude doesn't know if her grandmother is still alive. She is keen to start at GOCA and hopes one day that she will become a nurse.
